Maureen Fitzharris Walter was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, but calls Bel Aire, Kansas home. She is a 25-year partner in Gallery XII and is also associated with the Artists’ Guild of Wichita. Past memberships in the Pastel Society of Kansas, Wichita Women Artists and the Midwest Artist Organization gave her an opportunity to exhibit throughout Kansas.

Maureen works in a variety of media, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, and pastel. She loves to draw, and is familiar with all of the drawing mediums. Walter can be found most any time in her studio, Artists at Old Town, located in the same building as Gallery XII, in downtown Wichita, Kansas.

Walter has studied at Wichita State University, the Wichita Center for the Arts, the Chicago Art Institute, DePaul University, and the Harrington Institute of Design.

She enjoys working in a series in order to explore various avenues as fully as possible, often changing mediums.

Walter recently completed an Artist-in-Residence stay at the International School of Painting, Drawing and Sculpture in the Umbrian region of Italy, and that influence will be seen in her work for a few years to come.

Her work can be found in both private and corporate collections throughout the United States and in England, Ireland and Scotland.
